Chicken Shawarma is a most popular Middle East Sandwich which is found in almost each and every streets and roads there in Middle East and these days, it’s becoming popular in India as well. It makes a great and simple dinner as well as a loaded evening snack loaded with yummy grilled chicken pieces and veggies with Arabic sauces.
In the restaurants, marinated chicken chunks are mounted on a large rotating skewer and then roasted slowly to perfection against a gas burning grill in. Chicken Shawarma has typically remained a restaurant dish but you can bring the beautiful flavor of Chicken Shawarma home without the need of such roasters using the following method.
Boneless Chicken Breast – 4 to 6 Big Pieces
Garlic Sauce/Tahina Sauce – ½ cup
Kubbus – 4
Veggies as per your liking like Onion, Tomato, Cucumber, Olives, Boiled Potato Strips, Lettuce etc.
Marinate the chicken pieces with olive oil, salt, white pepper, crushed garlic and lil lemon juice and keep it aside for min 6 hours and grill it on stove top or oven for 10 to 15 mins till done.
Shred the grilled chicken into bits and pieces. Tear and open the kubbus and apply enormous amount of Garlic or Tahina on each side of the kubbus. Place the shredded grilled chicken on the entire kubbus and load it with veggies and drizzle some sauce on it and roll the kubbus with all the stuffing inside to make a wrap. You can place a baking sheet and wrap the shawarma in it and fold and seal it on top which makes a neat display on the table.
Note : Shawarma can be made with mutton chunks or just veggies alone too as per one’s preference.
